Shining a light on the darkest day!

Let’s shine a light on stigma of suicide and mental health together

A night of music and conversation with special guest speakers. A dedicated time and space to reflect and support each other through grief and talk about what’s happened to us;  communal grieving and healing.

6:30pm on 22nd June @ The Abbey Gold Creek

Our speakers

Alex Sloan AM is a communication specialist. She is an award winning journalist, panellist, MC and commentator whose extensive media career spans 30 years, including 27 years with ABC Radio.

Emma Davidson MLA is a Member for Murrumbidgee A member of the ACT Greens, Emma is the Minister for Disability, Minister for Justice Health, Minister for Mental Health, Minister for Seniors and Veterans, and Assistant Minister for Families and Community Services.

Richie Allan is a Ngunnawal Kamilaroi custodian who was born in Ngunnawal Country and raised on both Ngunnawal and Kamilaroi Country. Richie is TOAC’s Cultural Director where he manages cultural awareness, education and Ngunnawal relationships.

Janine Haskins lost her daughter Brontë in 2018 to suicide. Janine has worked for a number of community service based organisations, including positions as Probation and Parole Officer, Senior Witness Assistant at the DPP, mental health co-ordinator and roles within the family and domestic violence sector.

Michael Pettersson MLA. Member for Yerrabi in the ACT Legislative Assembly.

Sally Holliday is a nature-connection facilitator, disability support worker, creative therapist and Canberra artist . As a person with a lived experience of a mental health, Sally is no longer afraid of the deep and dark places.

Zebunnissa Khan is the Principal Psychologist at Lifestyle Psychology. Zeb is passionate about removing the stigma from mental health. She continues to present seminars on mental health to help educate people in the community. Her goal is to spread awareness of mental health and normalise its existence in society. Zebunnissa is a regular speaker on ABC Canberra.

Matthew Breen Twelve years ago Matt lost his father to suicide. Matt formed Running For resilience (R4R) a group of community members who run, jog and walk a circuit three times a week Monday and share their stories
